IF - Quiet

He was biking on his way home through the quiet village road.

oh. another frustrating watercolor process. i didn't put the shadows right (it's suppose to have lots of branches shadows on the road), but i was so tired... *ugh*
well, i hope you like it...

This is perfect!!! It’s good to be critical about own work, but in this case you shouldn’t be at all :-)

I love it and wouldn't have even noticed if you haven't mentioned it. Reminds me of a quiet road I'd bike on when I went to college. Lovely job!

I think it's a lovely watercolor. I was admiring it and was surprised by your disappointment in it. It's always so frustrating when a painting doesn't turn out the way we want it to, but sometimes, given a few days, it can be accepted for just what it is instead of what it is supposed to be. Personally I love it and think the sahadows look just right, and the colors are very lush.

thanks everyone! i'm sorry, i think i made a mistake earlier. what i meant is frustrating watercolor "process" instead of "piece". i had corrected it. actually i quite satisfied with the piece since i never paint a view before! :-)

i think it looks good to many braches would distract from it and give it a totally different feel

Beautiful work!

I agree with Jana...the shadows are just right. Maybe it's just a different time of day than you planned it to be :) Woods are so hard and time consuming. I dunno how you do it, but you do it! How big are the pieces you submit?
Every week I grow more and more anxious for Friday to come just to see new illustrations. Is that sad? :) hehe

true, woods are hard, i had to put many layers of colors on the tree just to find the right colour. i still have to practice a lot.
oh, this is 17 cm x 21 cm.

i like how u used red to make the kid pop from the forest greens :)

It's okay about the shadows. You have the artistic license. It may have over complicated the piece. I like it as is. Nice job.

I agree with the other comments - this piece is great - no need to be critical of it! It's a great image.

Very peaceful. Lovely.

What a totally spacious awesome scene. the shadows are just right. If it was any more complicated, i think the scene would lose the atmosphere it has right now. the long shadows extend the spaciousness and majestic-ness of the tall trees!!

I love it! The little touch of red on his shirt is such a nice focal point among all the green. I wouldn't have noticed the shadows either. Lovely work!

I love how the trees intertwine at the top of the piece. The yellows in the background are so peaceful. Very nice!

This is beautiful and peaceful and quiet. Green is that way naturally, and you use the color perfectly.

I think this is lovely and rich, and the shadows look great. Remember, you always have the right to use artistic license...:)

This is beautiful. Such a quiet, peaceful scene. The trees rise over the bike rider like cathedral arches. Great watercolor! :)

Your work is very beautiful. I think it will be sooner than ten years before you can work on Bible illustration. If you ever have any questions about that, let me know. I have done a lot of Bible art.

heh, thanks everyone! ^^
but am i too hard on myself? is that bad? okay, i'll be more positive next time..ha!

This so beautiful!

I'm glad you didn't add all the shadows you wanted, it would make the road way too dark, maybe a little creepy lol, or perharps it would look too distracting.

Hey, you have artistic licence, no need to make it exact to the very last detail. ;)

It's perfect as it is.
Awesome work!
