aww, beautiful one, Enigma! love this piece a lot!
This is perfect!!! It’s good to be critical about own work, but in this case you shouldn’t be at all :-)
I love it and wouldn't have even noticed if you haven't mentioned it. Reminds me of a quiet road I'd bike on when I went to college. Lovely job!
Looks like a nice place to be.
I think it's a lovely watercolor. I was admiring it and was surprised by your disappointment in it. It's always so frustrating when a painting doesn't turn out the way we want it to, but sometimes, given a few days, it can be accepted for just what it is instead of what it is supposed to be. Personally I love it and think the sahadows look just right, and the colors are very lush.
thanks everyone! i'm sorry, i think i made a mistake earlier. what i meant is frustrating watercolor "process" instead of "piece". i had corrected it. actually i quite satisfied with the piece since i never paint a view before! :-)
i think it looks good to many braches would distract from it and give it a totally different feel
I agree with Jana...the shadows are just right. Maybe it's just a different time of day than you planned it to be :) Woods are so hard and time consuming. I dunno how you do it, but you do it! How big are the pieces you submit? Every week I grow more and more anxious for Friday to come just to see new illustrations. Is that sad? :) hehe
true, woods are hard, i had to put many layers of colors on the tree just to find the right colour. i still have to practice a lot.oh, this is 17 cm x 21 cm.
Oooh! Lovely lovely!!!
beautiful and peaceful!
I enjoyed it too much I didn't even notice the 'shadow thing' u mentioned :DLove it! Reminds me of my childhood..
Hello hello :o))beautiful illo, I love your forest :o)
Just lovely! You've captured such a sense of tranquility is this painting. I wish I could transport myself there.
Great colors and the shadows are perfect!
This is a very beautiful watercolor!
yes, I love it! :)wondeful landscape!saludos
i like how u used red to make the kid pop from the forest greens :)
It's okay about the shadows. You have the artistic license. It may have over complicated the piece. I like it as is. Nice job.
I agree with the other comments - this piece is great - no need to be critical of it! It's a great image.
Very peaceful. Lovely.
What a totally spacious awesome scene. the shadows are just right. If it was any more complicated, i think the scene would lose the atmosphere it has right now. the long shadows extend the spaciousness and majestic-ness of the tall trees!!loveSulea
You know if you had not mentioned the shadows I would not have noticed. I love the view it is so peacful and quiet. Wonderful job and the colors are excellant.
I love it! The little touch of red on his shirt is such a nice focal point among all the green. I wouldn't have noticed the shadows either. Lovely work!
I love how the trees intertwine at the top of the piece. The yellows in the background are so peaceful. Very nice!
This is beautiful and peaceful and quiet. Green is that way naturally, and you use the color perfectly.
I think this is lovely and rich, and the shadows look great. Remember, you always have the right to use artistic license...:)
what a lovely path!
This is beautiful. Such a quiet, peaceful scene. The trees rise over the bike rider like cathedral arches. Great watercolor! :)
I like this, it's very peaceful. And I love the little red shirt among all that green.Anettewww.wynlen.no
Your work is very beautiful. I think it will be sooner than ten years before you can work on Bible illustration. If you ever have any questions about that, let me know. I have done a lot of Bible art.
heh, thanks everyone! ^^but am i too hard on myself? is that bad? okay, i'll be more positive next time..ha!
This so beautiful!I'm glad you didn't add all the shadows you wanted, it would make the road way too dark, maybe a little creepy lol, or perharps it would look too distracting. Hey, you have artistic licence, no need to make it exact to the very last detail. ;)It's perfect as it is.Awesome work!
Uau, its very beatful...Congratiulation!I lov the colors
this is wonderful! i think it works great without any branches shadows detail. i want to go take a walk at the park now. nice illo :)
great illo :-)
hey.. emang quiet kelihatannya. bagus deh.. damaiiii! aku suka piggy trampolin di kasur. lutju!
Enigman, you do very beautiful work. Your blog header says, "an amateur's artworks for Illustration Friday." But you are a pro.
Hi Enigma,This is sooo beautiful! I want to walk through these trees and feel the cool forest breeze on my face. :) You did an awesome job!~Gina
Beautiful and peaceful!! :)
el ambiente lo dice todo quietud, calma...esta todo sereno.
Such a beautiful scene! Gorgeous.
You always think of peace and quiet but your illo is kinda scary to me!! But I like it....
Very serene. That looks like a long road :) Nice color palette. The trees are fabulous! Cheers!
I think the shadows are really good. You always deliver a brilliant sense of lighting, and this one has a wonderful sense of scale too!
I love the colors, you did a great job, I don't even see the imperfection here
You did a beautiful job! I just want to look at this painting and enjoy the quiet mood!
this is wonderful!!!
I LOVE it! It reminded me of a road in Maine that we use to travel. Thanks for a fond "rememory!"
maybe the process was frustrating, but the result is good! It shows "quiet" and makes me wnat to bike in the woods. THanks!
I love it. Reminds me of my bike rides in the country when I was a kid and we lived in Maryland.
Wow....amazing use of the light and dark values..very intense, and very good perspective. I think it is perfect the way it is. I wouldn't mind having this for my collection. Great work!
