On stormy nights when the power goes out. My children love to light candles and sit around the kitchen table and talk. It is always a good time we all need the light and we all need wach other.
My "paradise on earth" is my father's childhood home. There's no electricity & no modern comforts - but the silence, beatuy and safety of the place is invaluable! Your painting reminded me of the love I feel for that place...
Delightful! This reminds me of blackouts when my sister and I were little - we LOVED lighting candles and sitting around the kitchen table. Sometimes it's good to be without modern distractions.

I agree with Eugenia Lucia - I don't see why you can't try illustrating parables now!

Where we live, in the winter, we don't have to imagine much/ the memory becomes reality quite often. This is a beautiful illustration with a warm feeling.
you are so right… it is amazing how much we use electicity to isolate ourselves and yet we still yearn to make contact with others… the power was out for almost an entire day over the entire city a few years back and it was amazing how many new friends were made and how many people actually went outside and spoke to their neighbors… many for the first time…

Once the power went off just before I was about to cook dinner. So we had peanut butter sandwiches, carrot sticks and milk in the dark while making shadow shapes on the wall with our flashlights. The kids ate a lot more than usual.

The illustration is very lovely. I know you requested critique, but the only thing I can manage to say is that placing the lamp and candle in the center of the piece creates two even planes. This can be a little visually boring, but you've got some variation between the tall and short figure, so I think it still works.
I really like all your work. Your colors, in particular, are tops.
